Prepare for shark-aligator-nado!!!!!!
Hurricane Dorian has been coming our way so we've spent a lot of time preparing, some say we crazy and we are, crazy prepared.
Anyways I'm writing this in my mission president's house which is where we will be hunkered down for ththe next couple of days, it'll be fun but uuuggghhhhh I'm going to miss all of our people and it's going to be wo WEIRD doing NOTHING, I guess I'll read my scriptures and try to catch up on my journal ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways we had some good lessons this week, we had a great lesson with Grant!!!!! He is so cool and he was taking notes during our lesson on the Book of Mormon! Although we might have to refer him to the YSA missionaroes because he is YSA age but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We taught Narada, Danielle and their family the gospel of Jesus Christ lesson and they LOVED it, their 9 year old daughter drew a picture of us and at the end of the lesson we talked about expectation and they said they loved us coming over and they wanted to make us dinner sometime, aaaaa they are so nice!!!!
All of the people we're teaching have been hard to meet with cause they're hurricane prepping so we spent a lot I'd time with part-members, less actives and the elderly. We had dinner with the bishop and he gave us a list of all the widows and elderly people in the ward who might need a visit. We had a cool experience while we were trying to find this lady named Sister Gavin. So we get to this nursing home where she lives and we get lost trying to find her room but we met Dale and Dolorus in the hallway and they were so cool! Dale has been searching for his purpose and Dolorus loves Jesus Christ so we hope to teach them after this hurricane passes. We did finally find sister Gavin and she was so sweet, but she has some memory problems so while we were talking her she would ask us where we are from and I would say Canada and Sister Adam's would say Arizona and then we'd talk again and then she's ask us where we're from, she must've asked like 6 times, it was so funny!!
But for this coming week we'll probably mostly be hunkering down at president's house, it's going to be super weird, I'm not sure what I'm going to do, it'll be so weird doing nothing aaaahhhh, idk I'll probably read the pearl of great price or something.
My favorite scripture I read this week was Doctrine and Covenants section 81 verse 5.
5 Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.
I love this scripture's connection with charity and how charity gives us the strength to strengthen others. I know that there are many hands that hang down but there are also many things we can do to help those around us.
I love y'all so much!!!
